New Creations, Coming Soon To 2 Fab Fristers!

March 27th, 2011 By: Gayle

New jewelry creations are coming soon to this spot! Stay tuned to 2 Fab Fristers!

Tomorrow it’s supposed to be sunny, so I hope to go outdoors and take some pictures. I love natural light for photography (besides, I won’t have to set up my light tent on the kitchen table).

Wow! Time Flies!

March 3rd, 2011 By: Gayle

Hi all. It’s been awhile since I posted anything. I’ve been dealing with a (not so new anymore) puppy, knee surgery, Christmas and a nasty virus which lasted a month. It has not been a terrific winter! All of this has kept me from my beloved jewelry making and I really miss it.

I do have some good news, though. I have several pieces on display at The Artisan’s Bench in downtown Brighton, Michigan. This terrific new gallery, which showcases Michigan artists, is located on Main Street. The owners have several lovely works, in addition to many gorgeous, handmade Oriental rugs. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday. My jewelry is selling very well and I’m thrilled to pieces! If you live in the area, please stop by The Artisan’s Bench and check it out.

This leads me to the importance of shopping locally, whenever possible. By shopping in your neighborhood, you support small businesses, thereby increasing the likelihood of reinforcing the local economy. That, in turn, will hopefully improve the overall economy. We all know how bad the economy has been and it’s really important to do what we can for our neighbors. Shop locally!

I hope to have several new pieces up on the website soon. Time to get back to the bench!

New pieces added to our website!

April 19th, 2010 By: Gayle

Hey folks! I’m in the process of adding new pieces to our website! Look for earrings, necklaces and bracelets, all waiting to adorn you  and/or your frister….I’m getting a little punchy, working on this and I’m craving a big, melt in your mouth, bar of chocolate! Unfortunately, it’s not on my diet…

My Frister

April 7th, 2010 By: tdomf_f27e0

My husband, oldest daughter (3 at the time) and an 8 month pregnant me moved to a VERY small village.  It was a very unfriendly place and my poor husband had to come home to tears frequently.  After a year we sold and moved.

A family with children whose ages were similar to our girls moved in up the road from our new home.  We decided to introduce ourselves until we found out that they were from the village from hell that we had just escaped.  No thank-you.

About a year later while on a walk we met the husband, Ed, and kids.  They seemed really nice and invited us to a get-together at their home.

That was the beginning of our friendship.  Kim and I are so similar.  My husband and Ed became like brother (frothers  lol).  We did everything together.  On Fridays when our husbands came home from work they would have to call to see which house we were spending the weekend at, and we only live a 1/4 of a mile apart.

We moved away and so did they.  That was 14 years ago and our friendships are as devout as they ever were.   Our children are also like siblings.  They have grown up together, vacationed together, practically lived together at times.

I fill blessed to have my bff (frister) Kim!

Love is Everything

A wise man recently imparted some truth
upon my humble ears

And in so many words he told me that
“Love is Everything”
As I speak those words, our earthly ears begin to argue
“Well it surely is important” we say, in our complicated and overrun brains
“But Everything?”
What about trust & faith, work & struggle, daily life and goals & earthly pursuits?
What about money & survival, injustice, stress and unresolved fears?
But even as we fight the idea because it seems too simplistic to encompass everything
A part of our souls knows it to be true
Like all truths so simply spoken yet seemingly impossible to fulfill

Love is Everything.

Love is surrendering our walls of lifelong protection to the energy that surges through life
Knowing that when we feel hurt by others, it is because they are hurting themselves
Love is the easy nurturing that a tree gives to its seed
as part of itself dies without remorse
Love is listening to the struggles of others
without judgment or consideration of oneself
Love is honoring yourself without guilt or punishment
so that your heart may remain open when faced with anger
Love is being able to take the blame so that the passage to love
may be opened and freed of regret
Love is acceptance for all that you do not understand
Knowing that you have no control over the actions of others
Except that you may surround them in your love
until they feel safe enough to soften into you
and allow themselves to be in love

Love when it is true and selfless and pure
with no goal or agenda but love itself
Is never wrong
never failing
never misguided or confused
It simply Is

And the reason why we invite all who we know and love
to bear witness to moments such as this
Moments when the emotions of life are so overwhelming
that we may catch ourselves off guard without argument or retort
Forgetting to protect ourselves from each other
Forgetting to be preoccupied and distant in our daily travels
Is so that we may remember what in fact is truer than all
So that we may be inspired by love throughout today and for years to come
And clearly see in the love
that these two people share
that
it is possible
that Love truly is Everything

We all wish for you both,
the easy flow that love brings
that you will always find home in one another’s arms
That you will forever see tears of joy in each other’s eyes
That you will always feel peace in the understanding of another human soul
that you will have the simplicity that comes in knowing that
Someone else wants more for you than you could ever ask for yourself
That you will breathe together and allow all other things to melt away
That you will grow and change along your unseen paths
and always find your way back to one another

But life is not always simple or easy
nor happy or peaceful
and in such times we all forget to breathe

And so above all I wish for you
the knowledge that love brings
that through struggle and pain
change and fear
loneliness and loss

You need only remember
the love that you feel so deeply in your hearts today
You need only close your eyes
and soften your walls and let that love hold you close

You need only remember that

Love is Everything

and in turn

Love will be all you see

Friday at A Peter James Salon

September 12th, 2009 By: Gayle

I spent my day, yesterday, helping my hairstylist and friend, Peter, celebrate 5 years of business! Congrats, Peter and thanks for giving me such great hair care for the past 12+ years!

2Fab Fristers was invited to display jewelry at Peter’s anniversary bash and a good time was had by everyone! I’d like to thank all the beautifully coiffed clients for their  jewelry purchases. Several were intrigued by the name Fristers and when I explained, were proud to exclaim “I have a Frister!” I invited them to come to our website and share their stories-here’s hoping they do! We’d love to hear more about your frister!

I’ll be returning to A Peter James Salon in December to showcase our holiday baubles. Hope to see you there!

Empty Nesting

September 12th, 2009 By: Jean

Well we just dropped our 5th child, Michael, at college.  He is attending Notre Dame.  It was a weekend full of emotions.  I was sad because of the obvious changes in our family and so very proud of him.  At least he is with his sister, Brigid, who is a senior at St. Mary’s of Notre Dame.  The thought of going home to a house with no children there, was just too hard.  What better time to visit that one person who could make me laugh, my best friend, my frister, Gayle.  My husband, Rick, my other son, Ricky, and I drove from South Bend to Brighton, MI.  The boys stayed one night and then drove back home to Minnesota.  Gayle and I spent the week reminiscing about all of our 7 children and how much they’ve grown up.  Where did the time go?  They were older, but we weren’t!  We laughed, we cried a little and we MADE  jewelry!!!  We were getting ready for our first big show at Woodland Hill Winery in Delano.  We had a wonderful time.  The weather was perfect and the comments we received were very affirming for our jewelry.  Although my daily routine is now different, no more making lunches or waiting up for children to get home, I am excited to embark on a new career path, 2 FAB FRISTERS!!!

My little frister

September 12th, 2009 By: tdomf_f27e0

She is seven years younger then me but many years wiser. She is the baby in the family I am the second to youngest of six. I can remember when she was born; I knew she would be my best friend for life. We had separate bedrooms for most of our childhood but we would always want to have “slumber parties” and sleep in the same room only so we could stay up all night talking and giggling. On several occasions my mom would come in and try to split us up because we were keeping everyone up but we would make every excuse and promise to be quiet. We couldn’t help that we thought making fart notices on our arms was so hilarious! Now we are both grown, my sister just graduated from college with honors and I own a company serving the disability community. But best of all we can still have a slumber party once in awhile because she lives with me!!! Thanks for letting me share my story about my sister; I love her so much and really don’t know what I would do without her. She does know me better than anyone else and has always loved me for me.
